The Other City

Het Gemaal op Zuid is a historic event- and community space in the heart of the Afrikaanderwijk, formerly Southeast Rotterdam’s sewage pumping station. Now run by Afrikaanderwijk Coöperatie, the building has been opened up as a space for collective use and talent development, hosting cultural programming, knowledge-sharing, workshops, dinners, and performances. The space is a neighbourhood enterprise that makes the strength and quality of local production visible.
