Table Scraps #3 (Dinner Conversations on Waste and Precarity): Dirty Work
Waste doesn’t vanish by itself. This dinner centers the voices of waste workers and others who handle our discarded materials. We’ll discuss the essential—but often invisible and stigmatized—labour of those who keep cities clean, and the need for recognition, safety, and solidarity in this line of work.
In this dinner series we come together to cook and share a three-course meal made from saved food and to talk about subjects that are rarely addressed, such as intersections of waste and precarity. These two become entangled very often and form strong patterns that nevertheless remain invisible in public discourse. For each dinner we pick a different theme and invite speakers to contribute their stories and perspectives to collective conversation.
Come cook, eat, and talk with us!
