Wasteland Reading Circle #1 with Werner van der Zwan
Inside the Out of Place exhibition, collective.wasteland and TENT will host a mini-series of two reading circles together with participating artists of the exhibition to explore our current and future relationships with waste, ecology and the city.
Wasteland Reading Circle #1
At home in an unhomely world: On living with waste with artist Werner van der Zwan
We asked Werner why he chose this text for the reading circle:
“I chose to read the text of philosopher Lisa Doeland because she manages to question and open up the way trash is usually approached, either as a problem to be managed or as something to be made to disappear. Yet trash never truly disappears; it transforms and lingers, haunting human life in the form of PFAS, microplastics or traces of medicine.
How might we invite trash into our idea of “home” instead of merely trying to control it? And how might we begin to imagine a world shared with other, unwelcome guests?”
practical information
The texts will be distributed and read together at each event, so no preparation is required.
Participation in the event is free.
